MINNETONKA — Three months after launching a billboard campaign encouraging readers to visit a Web site refuting evolution, Who is Your Creator has created a new public service campaign.
The new billboard design takes a shot at Darwinism by featuring a man morphing into a monkey with the tagline, “Are they making a monkey out of you?” The outdoor advertising is designed to point viewers to a Web site announcing a legal opinion contest for $5,000.
Three billboards each are already up in Oregon and Georgia, with more to follow in Dallas and around Minnesota soon. Who Is Your Creator is also trying to place a billboard in Dover or Harrisburg, Penn., and Kansas.
Who is Your Creator is offering the reward money for the submission of a four-part opinion covering the scientific analysis and legal aspects of teaching evolution and creation in public schools.
After contacting the anti-evolution group in January to sponsor a billboard, a retired attorney donated the cost for the vinyl production of the new billboards as well as the $5,000 contest reward. The donor framed the contest rules, which is meant to educate the public on past court rulings and “call attention to the urgent need for a critical analysis of evolution in the public schools,” according to a press release from Who Is Your Creator.
After hearing about the initial billboard campaign, Revelation Outdoor Management donated rental billboard space for the new campaign in several states.
Who Is Your Creator is listed by the American Institute of Biological Sciences under “Threats to Evolution Education”—a title prized by the nonprofit’s creator.
“How silly that they would think we are a threat unless they don’t want the public to know the truth,” said Julie Haberle, Who Is Your Creator’s founder and president.
